Is the NFL becoming a pure-offensive league?

I'm sure by now everyone has heard that the NFL has restructured their rules on helmet-to-helmet hits, saying now that first time offenders can be suspended or if the hit is bad enough, the player could be ejected from the game. Many players, especially defensive, have spoken out against the rule saying that the reason that football is the most popular sport in America is because of how intense every single play is. Another argument players are making is that the NFL keeps changing rules to make it harder for the defense to succeed. Players say that the NFL is doing this because they believe fans want a higher scoring game opposed to a defensive struggle.

In my opinion, I believe that defensive players are right in saying that the NFL is making changes to rules to make football a higher scoring game. Rules such as the new helmet-to-helmet rule and how easy defensive pass interferences are called make it too easy for the offense to succeed. Even though I'm a die-hard Colts fan, I'll admit that the Colts have benifited from some calls that shouldn't have been called. The NFL needs to start changing their rules back to the way they were before the 2005 season.
